Bangalore versus Kolkata, April 18.
The IPL finally arrived and burst onto the scene with a spectacular opening ceremony in Bangalore.
There was no bang for buck from the locals who went down like a limp balloon, 82 - 222, against a very strong and determined Kolkata team, but the crowd of over 40,000 did get to witness a brilliant world record score of 158 not out by Kiwi, Brendon McCullum - pounded off just 73 balls - an innings that blessed the IPL with a tremendous opening night.
