For over a century, cricket has lagged behind the world's other major sports, with the international scene devoid of vision and inspiration. Finally, cricket moves forward into the 21st century with the exciting and innovative IPL - Indian Premier League - which will, no doubt, grow rapidly and join the world's elite leagues as a special sporting competition attracting the worlds best players.Today teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Manchester United are household names - tomorrow teams like the Chennai Super Kings will attract the world's sporting fans imagination.

The 1st season of the Indian Premier League starts on April 18 when the Bangalore Royal Challengers take on Kolkata. Each of the eight teams plays the others twice, once home and once away in a six week debut season.
