Only their first game of the season, but not a confidence booster. |

| game summary: A strong start by the French in the opening 10 minutes before a turnover saw Rokocoko run in the first of his three tries in the opening 30 minutes. A late try to Marconnet brought the French back into the gaem before the break. In the second half a dodgy forward pass call saved the French from a certain try as they fought to claw their way back but a series of penalties to Carter blew the lead out and the All Blacks looked like coasting to victory. In the 70th minute the surprising sin binning of the NZ captain left them one man short for the last ten minutes, the French immediately brought up a try and trailled by only 8 with 9 minutes remaining. A penalty to the visitors and with 4 minutes to go the home side only led by 5 pts. Carter nailed a penalty in the final minute to secure vitcory but it was an unconvincing win. |
