The undefeated and top ranked Patriots marched into this game full of confidence but met a Giants defence that applied a lot of pressure to Tom Brady and restricted the Patriots scoring machine. With a touchdown to take the lead early in the final quarter it was all on the Patriots to respond. With 7 minutes to go the Patriots began one of their customary long drives down the field and a succession of first downs brought them inside the 10 yard line. Randy Moss received the touchdown from Brady and with 2 minutes to go the Giants needed something very special - Manning threw everything at it, and with 35 seconds on the clock he found Burress for the touchdown. Brady could not get his side back up the field for a field goal to tie and it was a shock win to the Giants.
